Set in 1479, a young doctor finds a noble woman murdered by the river Arno. Her connections are the loftiest all the way to the Vatican. His passion for autopsy leads him down the passageways of love, treachery, betrayal and murder as he uncovers other deaths and comes face to face with a previously unknown evil.
