Thanks for the informative explanation. I always thought the last phase of handling the layout is where most errors (not corrections) would occur - just imagine to change the first letter of the first paragraph of each chapter to some giant size Gothic style monogram - but I have never worked in the publishing industry and would still like to imagine by now they must have some smart applications that can retrofit a typo in an ealier-forked text version (given so many modern xml, markup text languages available). Well, maybe I tend to oversimplify the workflow.
