Begging your pardon and all that, but knickers to me means rugged corduroy pants with an elastic hem on each leg that goes just below the knee. Sort of like American Football pants which aren't corduroy. I wore them in elementary school many, many years ago.
What exactly is the modern usage if I might ask?
