@wl.: Yes, it does. You just change the "hyperlink" to the store to the browser, and the button of course, which has no influence beside the layout of the button. The access to the store via the menu is the same as before.

@miguelos: thats the reason to create the bak files, just in case. For me it is not clear, what causes sometimes an update to fail. I have updated modified Kindles with and without problems. And I do not talk about bins but modifying single files as well.
