It is no different than
aLord of the Rings content wise. There is a chance he might not like it, as Harry (our narrator) has a weird sense of humor. But if he does like it, there is no reason not to let him read it. Sure there is violence, but so far fetched from reality that it is clear that it is fiction. There is not many younger people either for him to associate.
