I don't get what's "wrong" with a 2.8 average. On Goodreads, 3 stars is "I liked it", and 2 stars is "meh". So the one and two stars aren't necessarily all "I HATED THIIIIS", they're some "I didn't like it" and some "meh".
For "meh" responses/reviews, I wouldn't typically dwell on the scant stuff I liked about a book, but I might make a few notes on the things that I reacted badly to - that's not a really odd way of writing book responses.
