New devices are usually partitioned so that there is no division between apps and data. There is one single partition for both, and you fill it up as you see fit. Previously (Gingerbread and earlier) you had separate partitions for data and apps and it was a bad compromise - some people want more apps, others want more data. That's no longer the case, though there have been a few manufacturers with recent versions of Android which have gone the old route, but that's more the exception than the norm.
