Yes. Once you do the factory reset, connect to the Kobo Desktop. This will allow registering, downloading any books you have from the Kobo bookstore, etc. The key is when the Kobo Desktop pops up the continue or eject choice, choose continue to leave your ereader connected to the computer so you can do the file replacement.
