Okay guys, granted that this stupid 'no longer available' msg is what keeps you all from updating. (@crashnburn, sorry, if you haven't got another device on which it does update then that method won't work of course.) I face the same msg but somehow the installed version still got updated.
Kris? I was thinking, I still have an iPhone 3G, and if I try downloading an app that will not run on 4.2, I get asked sometimes if I want to download an older version that is still compatible with iOS4.2.
Would this perhaps be a method available to you so that folks would just need to try download the latest official version (i.e. the universal one), then get told that it is not compatible with their iPad1 iOS5.x and get offered to download the last iPad only version instead? (or is this one of those hairbrained Apple schemes that is only available for old iPhones?)
