If you already percieve Kindles as the most closed platform, then it surely does not hurt Amazons reputation in any way to enforce that. They could even put that as a plus for them to show investors / publishers how serious they are about security holes and fixing them. I don't agree with it, but just saying that it makes sense from a business view of point.
