thats not true really! what locks the kindle out for non americans is the fact that you cant buy the books unless you have an american CC and Address.
The kindle can be connnected via USB just as I do my Sony. If I could buy books for the Kindle easily in the UK id nuy a Kindle(at least for my parents)
