Hi Jeromedevine, I've not filed or scraped any part of the old or new cases. I never tried to remove the old one until it began falling apart. Having just tried removing the new case, it seems fine, I just prised the PW gently from a point along the spine near the bottom, (index finger on/slightly under the PW and thumb on the case corner and sort of twist gently), and the bottom corner released easily.
