It is normal the PRS-505 to be identified as a Sony Pocket Edition. They report themselves using the same hardware ID, and as one or the other had to be selected Calibre goes with the more recent model.

In terms of trying to help with not getting latest releases of Calibre running it would be useful to know what OS you are running?
