Keen on ebooks, but holding off for now...

Dear Community,

After pondering on the topic for over a month, i've decided to hold back on purchasing an e-ink reader for now. I love tech and am a big gadget fan and have always been an early adopter of technology.

My need was to be able to read a lot of PDF research papers...
Was initially keen on the sony reader until reading about the extra steps needed to convert pdfs, re-page/size them, extract the text to rtf etc etc... then decided to go with the iliad even with the hefty price tag... looks like a good device except for the battery life, long boot times and no suspend... so then was keen on the bookeen, but have to wait until mid december and it also doesn't have the battery life of the sony... so in summary, none of the devices fit my exact need yet...

So for now, am going to stick with my zaurus c3000, with openzaurus and the native pdf reader. The screen is small, but it will save me the cash but it gives the required functionality of reading pdf papers for now...

Just noticed this today aswell..

The technology is promising, and am looking forward for a more mainstream commercialised and matured version in the next year or so. As soon and the next generation of screens (maybe colour e-ink) and technology are released will be in for one of those for sure!

Plus there are lots of rumours flying around about a new Apple ultra portable touch screen for Jan... who knows?

Will keep checking this forum as it is a great knowledge goldmine and collaboration tool for the community (coming from http://www.oesf.org/forum/) and look forward to being an adopter in the near future!
