Check if your local library has the "Modern Scholar" recorded lectures on CD. There are two really good ones covering the local solar system and then stars and galaxies:

Astronomy: Earth, Sky and Planets
Astronomy: Stars, Galaxies, and the Universe

Both of the above are by Professor James B. Kaler of the University of Illinois. Because they are actual recorded lectures, they are presented as teacher-to-student and follow a nice progression.
