Nope, no confusion on my part what a conspiracy, illegal or no, is. Once again, don't confuse what is said in a lawyer's opening statement with reality in any way, shape or form. It's not uncommon for a lawyer to say that "I'm going to show that the defendant is the meanest SOB in the world who steals candy from babies and kicks cute little dogs" while having zero evidence of any such thing. At the end of the day, it comes down to if they can convince the judge or not.
