Slow to boot? Both should be there instantaneously from sleep. You can't compare running a full startup on the PC to sleep mode on a tablet.
And my Surface RT weighs less than the iPad4, with a bigger screen and virtually the same battery life. The Surface Pro is at 6 hours, next generation we will get to 8 or 9.
