My main point is that we don't know to what degree the buttons are impairing the use-time. It's obviously not zero, but I haven't seen any data that shows whether or not it is a significant number. Do you know how much power those buttons actually draw?
The answer to that question has a direct impact on your statement above. I don't believe we know the answer though.
