Wow I'm a baby at this! I bought a nook 1st edition and then two years later got the nook HD+ to read textbooks and medical research papers on (you can download many journal papers in the epub format now). But the battery on the nook 1E died a few months ago (it was still my primary ebook reader) and a new battery would cost around $20. A few days ago I saw a nook simple touch for $50 at Target. That was just $30 more than the battery so I bought the last one. It is so much easier on my eyes to read the epaper screen than the HD+ screen (beautiful though it is).

I feel bad that my trusty nook 1st edition is gathering dust but now that nook ST can be had for $50 it is obsolete. It is no longer worth the cost of the battery to make it workable.
