That is not a bug. I wanted the hack to behave consistently across all firmware versions, the keys ending with .amazon or .hack are not supposed to be used by otaup, only by switch-updates-provider when making the switch.
IMHO it would be confusing if the same setup does something else in 3.0.x compared to 3.1.
