You still haven't said what format of ebook your referring to. Maybe we can hear from other Kindle or Nook owners.
I admit my ignorance of these devices but I do not believe that the books on these devices default to anything but the first page.
Maybe you or someone reading this can more clearly define what you are experiencing.
