Why I should win an ereader.

Well, I'm new & just recently joined when I discovered MobileRead. I joined to learn what I could about the various ereaders (of which the only one that I've been able to see in is the Sony 505). I can't afford a dedicated reader at this time. I read on a Palm & my laptop. I have gone for the last 2 months without the Palm until I rebuilt it last week. During the Palm incident I have had very little chance to read at all & I'm afraid that I'm going into withdrawal. My wife isn't a reader & probably thinks that most of my laptop reading time is really internet porn. I work for the University of Arkansas (yes, we're still slow to adopt new things) & I would be breaking local ground & exposing ebooks to people that haven't shifted their focus yet. If the eink is really as good as everyone says then when I finish work at work & work at home & am tired out of my gourd I can read more than 20 minutes without a headache. Because I am me. (I didn't see that in the few entries that I looked at. OKAY, it's really weak, but it always worked for my sisters.)

My choice would be a Kindle 2 followed by a Sony reader as second choice. Because I have been getting almost everything in Mobi which I really liked over Palm eReader & MicroSoft reader & PDF's are a last desperate choice in my opinion (for general reading anyway). My e-library is roughly 80% that is supposedly multi-format & 80% of that I know that I could reload (legally) in the Sony format.
