F. Scott Fitzgerald was a great writer of fiction. His short stories show versatility and range, and further reflect upon the more mature thematic content expressed in his novels.
I highly recommend reading him.
Jackson R. Bryer, in
New Essays on F. Scott Fitzgerald's Neglected Stories, writes that
"'The Last of the Belles' completes Fitzgerald's Tarleton series, a trilogy of short stories - the others are 'The Ice Palace' (1919) and 'The Jelly Bean' (1920) - involving the imaginary town of Tarleton, Georgia....[this story] has rightly enjoyed both critical and popular acclaim."
Like all the books I assemble on MobileRead, this too was assembled to reflect
human intervention and artistic judgment.
I hope you enjoy it.
