JSWolf - when that happens the fork would be deprecated. The advantages of separating include:
users of the fork will be notified of updates in the usual way, users who don't need the enhancement can ignore posts to the baseline thread and ignore the fork until the merged version is issued, new users won't get confused as to which version they ought to be using.
As of today there are three extant versions of Modify - the original, Rev Bob's fork, the qt5'd original and soon there'll be a fourth, the qt5'd Rev Bob's fork.
I do realise that when the qt5'd version of calibre is released then the qt5'd PI's will replace the current 'official' versions.
Not a criticism of anyone, just my opinion and observation
