I think we all know that JC (or C920) has the screen with
* 1600 * 1200 subpixels, which can be used to display
* 800 * 600 color pixels
So it should be able to display color images in 800 * 600.

So, there are two mixed issues here.
1. Whether Jetbook Color (JC) can display 1600 * 1200 BW images or documents.
2. Whether emphasizing 1600 * 1200 resolution is ethically right.

1.
About the first question, we have to wait about a week. It is possible that this machince can display BW images or documents much better than 800 * 600 using subpixels, hopefully closer to 1600 * 1200. If it can display better than 1200 x 825 (current 9.7 e-ink screen), I will order one right away.

2.
Second issue is whether it is ethically sound to claim 1600 * 1200 resolution. As you found from Engadget, they claim that
Quote:
"It's based on the Hanvon C920, which utilizes a 1600 x 1200 Triton color E Ink display"
One problem is that people automatically think JC will be able to display 1600 * 1200 color images when they read 'resolution 1600 * 1200 color e-ink screen'. Since eink Triton actually uses 1600 * 1200 subpixels so 'resolution 1600 * 1200' is not a lie technically but still gives misleading information to consumers.

If JC can display BW images/documents closer to 1600 * 1200, then claiming 1600 * 1200 resolution can be somewhat justified. If it is not, then, I think it is a shady promotion strategy.

Well, let's see how the product turns out to be and I really hope JC turn out to be a really good one.
