I'm very sorry for you, i live in dread of damaging mine... I hope you find a good solution.
For a little (tiny) bit more info about the e-ink plans of ETI, you might check
this thread, no dates as yet (but i also am hoping it's soon...) but encouraging words concerning the design (i.e., not another clone...).
