We had one poor soul show up on the amazon forums this month that had paid almost $9K to someone to build them a webmall, train them, coach, etc... of which they had made essentially nothing. These aren't true pyramid schemes, but just outright cons, very carefully worded to ensure that you cannot get your money back on fraud allegations with your credit card (and with a "after 30 day money back" guarantee to ensure you don't stop the payment until they have firm control of it).
