Further to fjtorres' point, Android isn't actually the 'Google OS' as such. Rather, Android is essentially an open source Linux distribution whose primary developer is Google. It's just that the Android we see on most Android devices has Google's closed source apps sitting on top. If you try CyanogenMod some time, you'll see what I mean.

Kind of off-topic, but I thought worth mentioning.
