Hello there, everyone! This is my first post here and I'm glad to have found a place where I might find an answer to my question.
Through some fun with trying to get the 2.5.2 update onto my K2 (global), I believe it looks like a font file has become corrupted since I cannot update from 2.3.4 to 2.5.2.
When I performed a dumpMessages and hunted through the log, I found this:
100615:135816 ota_install: I def
atch
atchinfo="/usr/java/lib/fonts/Kindle_Symbol.ttf"
atching file
100615:135817 ota_install: C def
atch
atchinfo="/usr/java/lib/fonts/Kindle_Symbol.ttf":checksum failure
100615:135817 ota_install: I def
atch:current_md5=73cce90147a408c5cf39149e87f0 5f79,expected_md5=f466fe7206e8b241c5bc04099a845224 ,patch_md5=1a9dab2a47755d6ccb6797ea56fb177f:checks um verify
100615:135817 system: E otaup:def:image update failed
After several attempts at updating, I found that I'd get the same line everytime.
Thinking I might get some help from Amazon CS (snort), they said that there was a problem with the font and said that I had installed a hack and needed it to be removed. Of course, I hadn't installed anything on this K2 so I have no idea how to remove something that isn't there.
Needless to say, since there was no hack installed on my K2i I think that the Kindle_Symbol.ttf file is corrupted.
Doing some research, I went ahead and downloaded the source for 2.3.4, but since I'm not familiar with how it's packaged, I don't know where it could be.
Also, I read some of the information on USB tethered networking, but with the 2.3.4 firmware, I can't seem to the get the Kindle to recognize the usbNetwork tethering hack in order to get into the FS.
So then it comes to this:
1. Where can I get the Kindle_Symbol.ttf file? If in the source code, what file do I need to extract it from?
2. How can I enable the USB tethered networking on 2.3.4 to allow me to copy the uncorrupted file into the /usr/java/lib/fonts?
Any suggestions or help would be appreciated since Amazon CS, for the most part, has left me high and dry on this one.
Thanks in advance!
Alex
