It varies. Some are made immediately into Audiobooks if it's a really a popular book. Some you have to wait for. It's all up to the publisher really.
Authors all the time say on Facebook to let the publisher know you want a Audio version. Now Amazon has a nifty new feature you can do just that.
So to answer the questions. The new Stephanie Plum novel was released in Audio at the same time as the book. So if it's a popular book you have a better chance for them to be released at the same time.
