How much do you pay to watch TV?

In the UK, anyone wanting to watch broadcast TV programs in real time must pay a licensing fee to the BBC. This is currently £145.50 ($228), or just over £12 ($19) per month.

This is a compulsory fee if you watch any live TV, not just BBC programmes.

For watching broadcast Digital Terrestrial TV, this is the only fee you must pay to get dozens of channels, both BBC output (without commercial advertising) and the advertising-supported channels.
