If you copy over the local files connected to the books you should still have everything. They have to be exact copies though for it to work. So basically plug in old Kindle and copy the Documents folder over to your desktop.

Eject the Kindle, then plug in the new one and copy all files from the folder you just put on your desktop to the new Kindle's documents folder. You shouldn't lose anything. I have done this many times. I don't use Amazon books just sideloaded and pdocs.
