Genre hierarchy question/advice needed

I have got a genre column which I am trying to populate myself.
Hierarchy works fine but I am at a bit of a loss as to how to order things.

Majority of books are mystery/crime of one type or another. Lots of subgenres in mysteries. Hard-Boiled, Cozy, Paranormal, Police Procedural, Horror, True Crime, Humorous, Juvenile, Detective, Fantasy, Legal, Suspense, Thriller etc.

I have mystery as my top of hierarchy genre but will probably change to crime.

If anyone has advice I would appreciate hearing it.

Thanks

Helen
