DRM is bad. I think the misunderstanding is in the "Rights" part of DRM. Once you have purchased the file the rights for that copy transfer to you. The very idea of someone attempting to dictate how you can use a file that you own is just ridiculous.

I personally think that any form of encryption should never be allowed on any file that is for sale to the public, including ebooks, DVD, CD, Bluray, etc...
