It's a hybrid that runs the "full" version of Windows 8, that is, with the traditional dekstop as well as the new tile-based interface.
Processing speed isn't the issue. Rather, so many aspects of the system either don't work well or don't work at all.
I think Windows 8 might well be a good system for smart phones and simple tablets, but it's really a bad choice for a keyboard-and-mouse environment.
