You would need to write some sort of driver for it for other operating systems. Since Unix devices typically appear as character streams, it is very easy to write a user level program to receives the data from the Wacom device on the iLiad, sends it over a socket to the Linux desktop, which then has the X server use that pipe as an input device. I don't know what would be involved for legacy operating systems.
