Mays kurze Erzählung "Die Rache des Mormonen" wurde vermutlich 1889 geschrieben und im November 1890 unter dem Pseudonym D. Jam in "Illustrirte Romane aller Nationen. Unterhaltungsblätter für Jedermann" (Deutsche Verlags-Anstalt) erstmals veröffentlicht.
