Forbes doesn't think this will work for MSFT. But maybe...

Microsoft was an early entrant in the ebook world, so this marks a return.

I think this move is the first step in MSFT taking over the Nook business. The reason? Its countering Apple's own long game in the ebook market- a long game focused on the education market.

IMO, neither Apple or Microsoft care beans about the low price, low profit mass market genre ebook- they care about the education market.
