Lord Peter Wimsey investigates the apparently natural death of an old lady. Are the heirs up to no good? And is there an undetectable means of committing murder?

Note: the novel is very much of its time and some of the more unpleasant characters display racist attitudes towards a black person, including the use of the “N” word. The author may have intended a criticism of such attitudes.
