There are free books listed right here at MobileRead, done by MobileRead members with GREAT CARE and LOVE. I highly recommend those.
There are always free books to be had right at Amazon too, though you have to dig a little. In the search query from your Kindle, just type "Free" and you'll see some of them (though you'll also see books with the word "free" in the title, so beware).
There are a good number of public domain books there for free too. I just finished "A Christmas Carol" for free (as an example). Just spend a little time here hanging out and you'll figure it all out. And don't be afraid to use the search function.
