That really depends on your needs and patterns of usage.
LCD screens are definitely faster and work well for searches, zoom-in/out, quick rotation from landscape to portrait, colour (pie-charts, illustrations, etc.)... E-ink battery life is superb, and is favoured by many for prolonged (and mostly sequential) reading.
Tech specs these days are gigantic, they are rarely consumed "in one sitting" and searching, zooming, rotations and scrolling are more frequently needed/used in that mode. When textbooks are used as a reference material, the pattern of usage is similar, I guess. A new title is likely to be read in more sequential manner, favouring eInk.
Either way, you are about to dish out a nice chunk of money, and secondary uses for your device (web browsing, media, prolonged reading for pleasure, battery life for vacations) are also of (some) concern. Good luck with your decision.
