The problem with Apple is that we don't know what is and what isn't standard ePub. So if we include Apple, we could be including eBooks that are not ePub.
But as for B&N, the DRM is irrelevant. What is relevant is that if you remove B&N's DRM, what you are left with is standard DRM. So yes, B&N counts toward ePub readership.
