I was not satisfied with The Sparrow or its sequel (note, reading the sequel is probably not necessary unless you are into complete closure). Saying that...actually because of that, I would definitely recommend the book to others interested in SF. I think it has a deserved place of significance in recent SF (for my mind, if you follow SF it's possibly "must read"), and is very ripe for discussion. It is, as you say, interesting.
