I suspected it was something like that. I miss the old, special Shortlist on the home screen.
The ability to protect user defined shelves would be nice. Although, I haven't seen anyone else asking for that feature, so perhaps the complexity of implementing it outweighs the usefulness.
For now, I will make an effort to remember to quickly tag my current Shortlist in Calibre
before I connect the Glo or Touch.
