We get a hell of a lot of those same young Frenchmen, and their neighbours to the west and north (that is, many European backpackers), visiting us and enjoying the same tanning practices on the beach here. You spot them later on and the next day(s) walking around like they've been riding a horse for days, and holding their arms out from their sides like they're carrying a couple of invisible beer barrels. Well, that, and the red so red (except for the whitest-of-white "tan lines") it burns the retinas almost as much as it must be burning them. A couple of hours "tanning" on the beach - a week or so staying inside or making mad dashes from small patch of shade to small patch of shade. Crazy.

Today, we're pretty much the same as yesterday - hard, blue sky, cicadas, 29C, lightest of breezes, swim, drink, lather, rinse, repeat. I've a migraine though, making it far less pleasant.

Cheers,
Marc
