Jeremiah, a self-styled, modern-day prophet, inspires millions of his followers to move to New America, a utopian colony centered in South Dakota and surrounding states. They buy land, establish businesses, create new cities and take over the machinery of government--including the National Guard and State Police. With financing from abroad, Jeremiah's mercenary army seizes a fleet of stealth bombers and occupies a nuclear power plant near Washington, D.C.
