I like that idea. Sometimes I forget whether to use the first 2 or 3 letters for the abreviation.

Keep the jump between books so we know which book we are in. Even better would be to insert the book abbreviation before the chapter and verse inside the content as a reminder of our location.

Even better would be a standardized abreviation doctrine like: Ma instead of Mt, Ph instead of Php. It would be easier to remember that way. If two books had the same first two letters, then use the first three letters for the second book.
