For the column, in the preferences where you added the column, select it and press "i" button to edit it. You can then change the "Column Heading" field.

For the other, you are talking about sorting the library list. If you click the heading of any column, it will sort by that column. Click again, and it sorts in the other order. So, if the books have all the right metadata, sorting by an appropriate column should show them together. In this case, the metadata you would expect is that the title is "Harry Potter and the ...", author is the same and the series column is filled in with the appropriate index, when you sort by one of these columns, the books would appear together. But, if you sorted by something like the publishing date, they might be in far apart.

The other thing to do is use the tag browser. Expand the authors and click on an author to just see his/her books. The same goes for the series or tags and other fields.
