Yes he is. You can have an awesome device, with a never ending battery life and perfect contrast, colour, etc. But if you can't easily read books on it (due to it only supporting one book format: your own, which only you sell, for example) the device won't be a success until somebody manages to make software to either read other formats, or less ideally, convert other formats to that one format.
