I know you've chosen working in Word; however, you will save yourself a lot of grief if you learn some basic html and work with it in a text editor such as emeditor (I can't recommend it enough). Mobipocket Creator uses Word to convert the Word document to html and then converts that to mobi. The Word -> html conversion creates a lot of garbage, which may result in formatting and other issues that are hard to diagnose.
